A new adventure in the Heart of The Gambia

After a period of illness, Nicolette Kluijver found herself looking at life differently. When you’re forced to slow down, you begin to ask different questions: about time, meaning, and what really matters. She realised she didn’t just want to consume the world; she wanted to create something lasting. Something that gives back, to the community, wildlife and mother nature.

That’s when the idea took root.

Hello, my name is Nicolette Kluijver. Charity projects and helping those (people and animal welfare) who need it the most is something I already do my whole life. Together with my partner Milan Zolak we have the shared passion to contribute and make a little difference in this beautiful world.

This made us decide to step into this adventure together and commit to this unique opportunity. This project is the perfect fusion of our dreams and more than a place to stay; it is a legacy of hope, growth and connection that will support and empower the local community for years to come.

From the start, The Bridge Hotel was never meant to be just a hotel. It was built as a bridge, connecting visitors to authentic Gambian life, and creating opportunities for the local community to grow through their own talent and hard work. Every day is a learning curve: from training the staff and perfecting new skills, to understanding Gambian life and the richness of its culture.

Our team comes from the surrounding villages, many beginning their hospitality journey right here without any study. With each guest who visits, they gain confidence, knowledge and the tools to shape their own future. By staying with us, you become part of that story – a story of shared growth, cultural exchange and community pride.

This is more than a business venture. It is about giving meaning to people’s lives by giving them the opportunity to do it themselves. Located allong the Trans Gambian Highway, far away from the luxury resorts, in the heart of the Gambia you will find The Bridge Hotel. Besides the monkey’s, Hippo’s and more than 300 different kind of birds you will experience the authentic Gambian life with all of its traditions and cultural heritage.

This is not a luxury five star resort but a place where nature, culture, eco tourism and the warm community of this area will welcome you to have a comfortable and plesent stay to enjoyy the rural area of the Gambia. When you stay with us you will contribute to a brighter future for many.

Will you join us to be a part of our shared story and discover this beautiful place, a place of untapped potential, where the beauty not only lies in the landscape, but in the warmth, resilience, and spirit of its people.
